more needs to happen in order obtain the necessary occupancy permit for residency in the New Temple. Once this permit is obtained, our monks and nuns can move in!
The time has come for movement into the New Temple. The New Temple, like the Peace Pagoda, is a place where all are welcome. It is a place for prayer and contemplation, to strengthen belief deep in our hearts that we can make this world a peaceful and secure world. . The monks and nuns are greatly anticipating the time when they can take up residence and fully practice in the Temple. When this happens, they give the care that is truly needed for the Sacred Space; and by being “in residence” and therefore present - make it a place of practice accessible to all. Right now morning and evening services are conducted in the New Temple Prayer Hall, regardless of the weather; and one monk must sleep in the Temple overnight.

Special Ceremony to Honor
The Tree of Peace
On
Sunday, August 12, 11:00am
At the
Peace Pagoda
100 Cave Hill Rd., Leverett, MA 01054
All Are Invited
The Tree of Peace was initially dedicated by
Mohawk Chief, Jake Swamp, October 18, 1940 – October 14, 2010
in the summer of 1985. Now 27 years later, Jim Farnham has agreed to lead a ceremony to honor this tree that was one among so many that Jake Swamp either planted and/or dedicated for peace and for the welfare of all of the children and the generations yet to come.
“I have envisioned a day when all of our dreams become a reality. Our multicultural programs, historical presentations, environmental forums, and youth and elders activities have enjoyed great success and every positive accomplishment comes with additional requests. This inspires me to continue the work and hopefully our work inspires you to join in our efforts. I congratulate you if you have already found the path to the peace we all seek and hope to cross paths with more like minded people such as you.”
-Jake Swamp
All are welcome to participate!
Please feel free to bring food to share after the ceremony.
